35 < 35 project

My friend Monica recently sent me a link to a project that Shambhala Publications was sponsoring, called "35<35," calling for submissions for a new book they'll be putting out next year that deals with the experiences of Buddhists under 35 years old. The book is being edited by author Susan Piver. I submitted an essay called "Good Medicine," which parallels my medical and Buddhist practices. The work was picked up for the promotional website, and you can check it out here: http://www.35u35.com/submissions/good-medicine/. I'll find out if gets selected for the final book later this year.

9/11 Poetry Contest

A lovely organization called the Medford Arts Center in Medford, NJ recently sponsored a poetry contest to commemorate September 11th in anticipation of its 10-year anniversary. I was honored to receive second place for my submission. You can find it on the MAC website at www.artsinmedford.org. I'll be attending the Medford Township's observance on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Freedom Park in Medford, NJ, where the first place recipient of the contest will read their work.

Some recent press about the contest in the Burlington County Times: http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/medford/medford-remembering-sept-through-poetry/article_c7b9bae7-3ae7-574e-a39a-2b122f53690b.html
